W. Hope's resignation as guardian of Kate T. Finney was tendered, and accepted by the Court.

The following reports of commissioners in cases of lands to be taken by the Peninsula railroad were continued until September term, next, by consent, to-wit; John Brittingham, (3 cases); Sally E. Slocomb, Sidney Hancock, Upshur B. Quinby and wife (2 cases), Joseph G. Belote (3 cases), John P. McMath, Thomas C. Pitts and wife, Jno. S. Martin (2 cases), James H. Belote, and James H. Beloate and Elizabeth Ross.

The compensation allowed by the commissioners in their reports of lands to be taken by the Peninsula railroad company were paid into court, into the hands of Wm. H. B. Custis, clerk and receiver, in the following cases, to-wit Wm. S. Horsey, $60; James Al. Hall, $34; Thomas A. Northam, $27; James J. Fletcher and wife, $20; John E. Hickman, $16; Elizabeth Ewell, $55; Eliza Gardner, $10; George W. Powell, $10 and $35; Sarah A. Budd et als., $20; George Beloate, $35; Mary Jane Rew, $25, and Joseph G. Beloate (1 case) $18.

A deed from Henry L. Wessells to Charles F. Wessels was proved and ordered to be recorded.

A deed from Henry L. Wessells to Isaac K. Marshall was proved and ordered to be recorded.

A deed from George C. Phillips to John T. Powell was proved and ordered to be recorded.

The Commonwealth vs. Robert J. Stant, indictment for attempting to commit the crime of murder; prisoner arraigned, verdict of not guilty, and judgment of acquittal:

Same vs. John J. Taylor, upon warrant alleging fornication; verdict of guilty, and defendant fined $40 and cost

Same vs. Robt. J. Stant, indictment for carrying a pistol hidden from common observation; verdict of guilty, and defendant fined $15 and cost.

Order releasing John Handy and Eli Hope, prisoners in jail, from confinement.

Account of John Neely, attorney for Commonwealth, allowed and certified.

Order directing Wm. L. Watson's committee (David Watson) to surrender to Wm. L. his estate.

Lists of insolvents for State taxes for 1881 were examined and certified.

Ex parte petition of Wm. S. Hope, late guardian of Kate T. Finney, filed; and order directing late guardian to make up before Commissioner Ross a final account, to pay costs of petition and make deposit in Marine Bank.

Order entered directing Bennet Fentress, surveyor of road precinct No. 16 of Pungoteague district, to purchase material and repair six public bridges in his said precinct.
