A regular grand jury was empanelled and presented: An indictment against Andrew Deer for wilful and unlawful trespass; a true bill; defendant was tried, convicted and sent to jail for 80 days, and ordered to pay a fine of $10 and costs of prosecution. An indictment vs. Wm. T. Bloxom, for failing to keep in proper condition a public road within the precinct of which he is surveyor; a true bill. Indictment against Robt. S. Henderson, for attempt to maim, a true bill. Indictment vs. Wm. H. Kewell, for unlawfully keeping and exhibiting a gaming table; a true bill; defendant was tried, convicted, and sentenced to jail for two months, and to pay a fine of $100 and costs of prosecution. Indictment vs. Sam'l C. Taylor, for unlawfully having terrapins in his possession; a true bill. Indictment vs. Joshua Spence, for assault and battery; a true bill. Indictment vs. George M. Dix, for maiming; a true bill. Indictment vs. Louis Douglas, Abr'm Wharton, Erastus Dennis, Jas. Williams and Wm. Ewell, for wilful trespass; a true bill. Indictment vs. Benj. Young, for murder, a true bill. Indictment vs. Isalah T. Johnson, for permitting unlawful gaming at the house of entertainment at Leemont, of which he is the keeper; a true bill.

Order of expenditure of $2 per month for Elijah Mears by John H. Wise, sheriff and committee.

Inquest held by Wm. T. Parkes, J. P. , and acting coroner, over the dead body of Gilley Bundick, returned and filed.

Bar room liquor license granted to Charles W. Duncan, at his house at Chincoteague Island.

Default of Wm. H. Kewell on recognizance to answer indictment, entered, and seire facias awarded against him and George E. Bull, surety, returnable to the first day of the next term.

Francis West qualified as Notary Public for the county of Accomack.

Order entered exempting Peter Clows from capitation tax because of physical incapacity to perform manual labor.
