ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, December Term, 1887.

Ambrose S. Taylor, J.P., paid into court $2.50, fine received of Minnie Holden, convicted before him of assault and battery.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed: Orphan accounts of May and Willie Pettit, and Willianna Wright; audits of estates of Thomas S. Bayly, John S. Small and William Finney of William.

Last will of John E. T. Window was probated and Edward J. Window qualified as executor.

Letters of administration were granted to Levin T. Crowson on estate of Spencer Lewis, deceased, and to L. Floyd Nock on estate of Jacob Bunting, deceased.

Leeanna L. Coxton qualified as guardian of her child, Bettie B. Coxton; George B. Mason qualified as guardian of Elijah W. Sturgis; E. J. Window as guardian of Charles H. Window; and Sarah Ann Ward as guardian of Ferdie L., Carson Ray, Sarah Francis and Daisey Nock Ward.

Wm. H. Oliver vs. Cordie A. Kellam (on attachment for rent.) Report of constable filed and confirmed. Order directing payment of costs and balance in hands of officer to plaintiff in pro tanto satisfaction of rent.

Barroom license granted to William T. Mears, Coal Kiln.

Orders on county treasurer for road and bridge matters were entered as follows: Bennett Fentress, $14; George S. Hope, $7; Robert J. Cropper, $17; A. J. Wessells, $2; J. F. Hargis, $8; J. A. Chambers, $10; L. N. Boggs, $32.95; John W. Gillet, John J. Wise and A. J. Lilliston, $1 each; George D. Wise, $4; John T. James, W. L. Parker and John W. Gillet, $1 each.

Henry Beasley appointed surveyor of road in place of James F. Hargis, resigned; John H. Hopkins in place of William P. Lewis, resigned; and John S. Ames in place of Edward T. Downing, deceased.

Order entered directing Andrew J. Kellam to build box bridge near the residence of E. B. Swanger.

Upon petition of surveyor to repair road from corporation limits of Onancock to Point of Forks. Reports of viewers filed.

Upon petition of D. F. White and other for public road. Report of viewers filed.

Report of sales of delinquent lands for year 1884 by J. J. Blackstone, county treasurer, and the report of said treasurer of said lands for same year redeemed before sale, were confirmed and ordered to be certified to the auditor of Public Accounts.

Inspectors of oysters reported for the quarter ending, November 30th, 1887, as follows: Samuel J. Davis, 1st district -- amount collected $86.51, due State $77.86; Samuel J. Davis, 2nd district -- collected $2.75, due State $2.48; John R. Johnson, 5th district -- collected $591.57, due State $532.41; James T. Weaver, 6th district -- collected $494.85, due State $329.71; John C. Justice, 7th district -- collected $625.75, due State $563.18; Charles P. Finney, 8th district -- collected $283.50, due State $255.15; Raymond R. Hutchinson, 9th district -- collected $517.83, due State $466.05.

Commonwealth vs. James S. Nock (on 3 indictments), case continued on defendant's motion.

Commonwealth vs. William S. Young (on an indictment for assault and battery on James L. Savage). Defendant tried and convicted and fined $5 and costs of prosecution.

On petition of E. E. Corbin and others for public road. Report of John A. Chambers, surveyor, filed and confirmed and order directing said surveyor to do further work on his road.

Commonwealth vs. William Core (on indictment for assault and battery on a certain Sydney Wise.) Defendant tried and convicted and fined $5 and cost of prosecution.

Same vs. Artemus E. Poulson (on indictment for carrying a pistol concealed.) Defendant tried and convicted and fined $20 and cost of prosecution.

Same vs. Henry Nock (on indictment for carrying a pistol concealed.) Defendant tried and convicted and fined $25 and cost of prosecution.

Same vs. George T. Clayton (on indictment for selling intoxicating liquor.) Trial of defendant commenced, evidence heard, juror too ill to attend the court and cases continued until next term for a new trial.

Order entered committing the estate of Levi Nock, a lunatic in jail to John H. Wise, sheriff of this county.

Order entered directing the administrator d. b. n. of Edward P. East, deceased, to make further partial distribution of said decedant's estate without requiring a refunding bond.
