ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, November Term, 1894.

Joseph L. Cooper, J.P., paid into court, $1 fine and $1 clerk's fee received of Sydney Crockett convicted before him for cursing and swearing in his court.

Authority to celebrate the rites of matrimony was granted to Rev. Rufus E. C. Lawson, of Presbyterian Church.

The estate of Charles Smith, deceased, was committed to John H. Wise, sheriff, for administration.

David B. Finney's will was proved and ordered to be recorded.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded: Orphan accounts of William T., Lee May, James T., Charles Andrew and Margaret A. Gibbons; Effie, Susie, Eva M. and Edward A. Downing -- trust accounts of Wm. E. Mariner and wife, and of Sarah Finney, colored -- and audits of estates of Edward T. Nock, Elizabeth P. C. Chandler and Margaret A. Scarburgh.

Accounts against Commonwealth for lunacy and criminal charges were allowed as follows: Dr. N. S. Smith, $2.50; Thomas G. Clayton, J.P., $1; T. W. Blackstone, J.P., $3; Melson & Daugherty, 70 cents; Rebecca Joynes, $32.50; attorney for Commonwealth, $85; A. J. Read, guard, $23; Samuel C. Melson, jailer, $98.55; G. Lloyd Doughty, for boarding jury $48.

Order entered directing James A. Winder, surveyor of roads, to repair bridge near the residence of Almer Ames.

Louis J. Floyd qualified as administrator of William Thomas Bradford, deceased.

James & Mears vs. Mary Susan Jenkins, (on attachment). Judgment for plaintiff.

Inquest held over the dead body of an unknown white man, who was killed by railroad between Bloxom station and Mason's flat, by Thomas G. Clayton, J.P., and acting coroner was returned to court and filed and order was entered for the payment of the cost thereof out of the State treasury.

William B. Duncan and Ananias Rogers, late surveyors of roads, made report under order directing repairs to certain bridges and the rules against them were discharged.

Orders on county treasurer in road and bridge matters were entered as follows: Dr. J. W. Short, (4 accounts), $4, $3, $6 and $34.34; Ananias Rogers $12; John W. J. A. Tull, $2.25; Frank Justice, $3; Wm. Hickman, $1.50; Samuel B. Slocomb, $3; Frank Covington, $1.50; Wm. B. Duncan, $2.

Ex parte: Petition of Sam'l C. Taylor of John, and others as to omissions from the survey of Lieut. Baylor of natural oyster beds, &c. The commissioners made their report which was recorded and the clerk was directed to certify a copy thereof to the Board of the Chesapeake and its tributaries.

Ex parte: Petition of Raymond Hall and Edward R. Thomas for a drain. Order entered confirming the report of the commissioners and directing drain to be cut as recommended therein.

Geo. C. Jones vs. Mrs. Aralanta Jones, (on motion to appoint a committee). Motion entered to appoint L. Floyd Nock committee for defendant and continued until first day of next term.

Ordinary (hotel) license and also retail liquor license were granted to E. A. Bloxom at Keller station.

Rule was awarded against James Thornton Jr., to show cause why he should not be fined for failing to attend as a witness for the Commonwealth, at last term.

L. Floyd Nock was substituted as trustee in place of Alfred Hudson in deed from Cyrus G. Baker.
