ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings at May Term, 1883, Judge Thos. C. Parramore, Presiding

Receipts in full from John W. G., Thomas W., and Margaret D. Blackstone to John J. Blackstone, their late Guardian; acknowledged and proved, and ordered recorded.

Late will of George Cutler, deceased, was duly probated.

The following accounts of fiduciaries were confirmed and ordered recorded, to wit; Audits of the respective estates of Elihu Taylor, John A. Window, Gillet F. Ewell, John W. Adair, Francis B. Custis, Sally Hargis and Lewis Bayly; account of Wm. S. Holland, trustee, with Asher T. W. Wallop's trust funds; orphan accounts of James J. Bloxom (2), Major Floyd and Douglas Topping, Sarah Phillips, Sallie E. and Frank M. Boggs and Byrdie Amanda Bull.

Samuel Sommers qualified as administrator of Samuel W. Sommers, deceased.

Last will of Mary Ann Silverthorn was duly probated and Edward T. Silverthorn qualified as executer.

Last will of Littleton Williams was partly proved.

Last will of Nancy Fox was partly proved.

Accounts of Obadiah W. Godwin, constable, John J. Blackstone, treasurer, and John D. Wimbrough, J. P., in criminal matters, were examined, allowed and certified.

Ex parte Geo. H. Ewell's exors. and others: order for clerk to check in favor of defendant Thorogood Ewell for residue of fund remaining in Marine Bank.

Certificate granted John H. Nutter to obtain license to sell religious books at a nominal tax of 50 cents.

Wm. P. M. Kellam appointed receiver for Sallie E. Slocomb, to receive and pay over railroad damages for her land to be taken.

Certificate granted the following persons to obtain license to manufacture oil or manure from alewives or menhaden, to wit: Thomas Johnson, H. L. Crockett & Co., Crockett & Dies, Chambers & Co., Crockett, Murphy & Co., Spence & Brother, Crockett, Parks & Co., Orris A. Browne.

Certificate granted the following persons to obtain license as the heads of gangs controlling a seine or purse to catch alewives or menhaden to manufacture into oil or manure, to wit: Andrew Parks, John W. Dies, Charles B. Crockett, Joshua Dies, Seth Williams, Wm. R. Parks, Geo. W. Murphy, Petty Shores and Teackle Evans.

James E. Weaver, J. P., paid into Court $2.50 the fine imposed by him, upon a certain Simon Bundick, convicted of petit larceny.

Eastern Shore Steamboat Company, appellant, vs. H. T. White, appellee; judgement below reversed and annulled.

Authority granted Rev. Andrew J. Walter to celebrate the rites of matrimony.

Bar room license was granted to George T. Collins at "Wagram;" Richard P. Read at "Hoffman's Wharf;" and A. P. Kellam & Co. at "Head of Bradford's Neck."

Richard P. Read qualified as Justice of the Peace for District of Pungoteague, and N. S. Smith for District of the Islands; Jos. E. Brodwater qualified as Supervisor for District of Atlantic,(for two years commencing first day of July next.)

Orders on County Treasurer were entered for L. H. Ames for $17.00; John A. Brittingham $2.00; Wm. S. Knight $5.00; and John W. Marsh $8.00; (road services.)

Thos. Edwards of John was appointed surveyor of the road, vice John W. Marsh; David D. B. Miles, vice Wm. S. Knight; John T. F. Hope, vice Jas. B. Mapp; and Henry C. Walker, vice Leonard H. Ames.

Commonwealth vs. Washington L. Trader, indictment for dredging; continued till next term on defendant's motion, and security given for his appearance.

Same vs. Edward T. Summers, indictment for assault and battery; verdict of guilty, and judgment for Commonwealth. fine and costs, amounting to $16.15, paid into Court.

Same vs. Zadock Carter and Levi Davis, indictments for taking planted oysters; nolle prosequi entered in each case.

Order dismissing motion to assign Nancy Whealton's dower in Daniel Whealton's land.

Order entered appointing commissioners to assign Nancy Whealton's dower land of Joshua Whealton of E., dec'd.

John Neely resigned as guardian of Lillian and Elmer Lewis.

John Neely was appointed and qualified as guardian of Mary Lillian and Elmer K. S. Lewis.

Report of commissioners entered assigning Louisa M. Snead's dower, and order entered confirming report.

Order entered enlarging Road Precinct No. 22 of Pungoteague district by adding thereto "so much as lies within Accomack county of the cross road running direct from Belle Haven to the sea side road."

Upon application of David D. Abbot, surveyor of the road, to widen a road in his Precinct; order entered appointing commissioners to examine etc., and report.

Order entered directing Alfred Taylor, surveyor, to rebuild Rutter's Bridge.

The Commonwealth vs. W. S. Waterman, on information for selling liquor as a retail dealer without license; defendant plead guilty and paid fine and costs amounting to $18.36 into court, and was sentenced to five days' imprisonment in county jail.
