ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, September Term, 1899.

Ex parte: Petition of Oaknall J. Humphreys &c's late guardian. Report of Nath'l B. Wescott filed and order entering confirming report.

Spencer R. Nelson, resigned as guardian of Henrietta E. Quinby, orphan of Upshur B. Quinby, deceased. Joshua H. Turner was appointed and qualified in place of said Nelson.

The clerk returned to the court, as the law required, a list of the fines reported to him by Justices of Peace for the month of August 1899.

The sheriff made report to the court, as the law requires, the number of prisoners in jail, their offences, sentences &c.

The following accounts against the Commonwealth in criminal and lunacy cases were allowed, to wit: To Lloyd F. J. Wilson, J.P., $1.00; A. S. Taylor, J.P., $1.80; John A. Mears, J.P., $1.00; Thos. G. Clayton, J.P., $5.65; George E. Winder, J.P., $3.00; Edward T. Ross Sr., constable, $12.36; Joseph C. Wescott, constable, $16.99.

Retail liquor license was granted to William H. Guy at "Point of Forks", near Onancock.

Inquest over dead bodies of Vinsant Ginn, colored, and Revel Bivans, colored and Charles W. Marsh was returned and filed.

Ex parte: Petition of Wm. L. Marshall's admr. Report of T. A. Crockett, admr., by L. Floyd Nock, his attorney, filed and order entered confirming report.

Samuel James Turlington, of Fair Oaks, having been duly licensed by the Supreme Court of Appeals of Virginia to practice law in the courts of the State, was admitted and qualified to practice in the county court of Accomac county.

On petition of L. T. Ross and others for a public bridge and changing public road at Northam's mill pond. Petition filed and order appointing surveyors.

William Harmon, colored, George Smith colored, and John Henderson, colored, were discharged from jail, having served out their terms and being unable to pay fines and costs, except the said Harmon who paid ten dollars in part of the amount due from him.

Estate of Rhisdon Crockett was committed to Levin J. Gunter, sheriff for administration.

Benjamin T. Gunter qualified as administrator of John J. Hopkins, deceased.

L. Floyd Nock, agent for Wm. M. Ward against James Fosque (attachment for rent). Attachment returned "levied" and case put on docket.

Louis Hurst, agent for James H. Hurst against A. D. Mister (attachment for rent). Attachment returned "levied" case heard, judgment for plaintiff and order for sale.

Frederic W. Hopkins vs. Frederic W. Hopkins (on petition). Petition filed and referred to commissioner of accounts.
