Proceedings, December Term, 1899.

Petition of George S. Nock and others for a public road from Onley to road leading to Slutkill Neck. Joshua T. Burton, commissioner, ordered to complete road and report to court.

Petition of Charles A. Gibbons &c.'s late guardian. Order confirming report of Samuel T. Ross.

Petition of George Hargis's executor, Samuel T. Ross. Order confirming report of executor.

Joseph R. Riggs qualified as administrator of John S. Ewell, deceased. Robert L. Shield as executor of Rev. John Atkinson, deceased, whose will was duly proven, and Jane H. Custis as guardian of Samuel and Wesley Bundick, orphans of Belle Bundick, colored, deceased.

The sheriff made report, as the law requires, of the number of prisoners in jail, etc.

Thomas C. Kellam of Onancock was appointed and qualified as assessor of lands for district No. 2 (lower parish).

John T. White of Parksley was appointed and qualified as assessor of lands for district No. 1 (upper parish).

Petition of Fletcher Drummond and others to change public road and for public bridge of Horse Branch. Report of William McK. Taylor, commissioner, showing work to be complete, filed and confirmed, and order for payment of costs incurred by petitioners and removing cause from docket.

The clerk made report to the court of the fines certified to him by Justices of the Peace during the month of November, 1899.

Jack Morrissee and Andrew Anderson were discharged from jail having served out the terms and being wholly unable to pay costs.

Will Nock, colored, committed to jail to answer the charge of seduction, was bailed to appear 1st day of the next February term.

Samuel W. Ames vs. Henry Bevans on attachment for rent. Report of constable filed, petition filed by A. S. West, claiming part of property levied on; cause continued by consent until second day of next term.

Samuel E. Wright vs. Margaret Ann Conquest on attachment for rent. Continued until 1st day of the next term.

Mary C. Rew vs. Louis A. Young on attachment for rent. Judgment for plaintiff and order for sale of attached effects, for payment of expenses of sale, costs of attachment and plaintiff's rent.

Eliza Mears's administrator (L. J. Gunter) vs. John Ewell on attachment for rent. Continued until first day of the next term.

John R. Sturgis vs. Stran Fosque on distress warrant. Cause continued until third day of next term.

William H. Oliver qualified as notary public for Accomac county.

Edward P. Timmons vs. George Ross on attachment for rent. Motion to quash attachment. Attachment quashed and judgment for defendants's costs. Four bills of exceptions filed by plaintiff. Suspending bond executed and execution of judgment suspended for 40 days to allow plaintiff to present petition for appeal to circuit court.

Insolvent and delinquent lists for 1898 returned by Edwin T. Powell, late treasurer, examined and certified.

Petition of Benjamin F. Young et als for a drain. Exceptions filed by Dawson J. Trader and others to report of commissioners and evidence and argument of counsel heard. Exceptions overruled and report of commissioners confirmed.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed, to wit: orphan accounts of Annie E. and Ida R. Courtney, Joseph Thomas Rayfield, Henrietta Scarburgh, Effie Downing, James Downing, William R. and Lydia M. Miles and R. S. J. Drummond.

Order entered authorizing James Lee Justis to assign his retail liquor license at Parksley to James H. Satchell.

Petition of J. W. Williams and others for a public road on Chincoteague. Report of viewers returned and filed, and order to summon owners of the lands proposed to be taken to show cause if any they can against the opening of the road applied for.
