ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, October Term, 1887.

Wm. J. Rue qualified as administrator of John O. Downing, deceased, Frank Fletcher, admr. of Thos. Smith, decd., and John P. L. Hopkins of Dial W. East, decd.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered recorded to wit: Audits of estates of John E. Bell, John S. Phillips, Triphema Poulson, Edmund Stant, Perry Mears, and N. Judson Kellam; orphan accounts of Jno. W. Beloate, Emerson T., Georgie and Essie Wescott.

Lloyd F. J. Wilson, J.P., paid into court eight dollars, fine received of J. H. Merrill.

Accounts against the commonwealth were allowed as follows; To Dr. G. T. Scarburgh, physician to jail $22; Benj. F. Bull, constable $6.98; Henry A. W. Kellam et als, guards $5.13.

Ex Parte: Petition of N. Judson Kellam's administrators. Order for administrator to pay cost and make deposit in Marine Bank.

Nolle prosequi entered for George Cherricks, who was recognized to answer indictment for an attempt at rape and Cherricks was discharged.

George R. West vs. Thomas Beasley (attachment for rent) judgment for plaintiff and order of sale of attached effects.

Orders to purchase materials and repair public bridges entered in favor of Wm. W. Margerum, Edward T. Lang and George A. Edmonds, surveyor of roads.

Upon petition of John T. Powell and others for public road. Report of viewers filed, and order to summon proprietors.

Order on county treasurer in road and bridge matters entered as follows: For Arthur M. Rogers, James H. Beloate, Wesley J. Watkinson, Spencer D. Fletcher, Jesse Taylor, John S. Tull, T. L. Trower, R. Williams, Z. C. Mason and George W. James, $1 each; Chas. W. Feddeman, $90.87 and $26, H. Mason & Co., $2.28; J. C. Justice, 20c, Wm. H. Marsh, $26.50 and $15; Wm. P. Lewis, $14; T. H. B. Corbin, $8; Levin J. Melson, $6; James H. Tindall, $7; Rixom Taylor, $8; Wm. W. W. Margerum, $18; Wm. W. Ling, $8; Wm. H. Pruitt, $8; Edward T. Ling, $8; Winfield S. Byrd, $6; James T. A regular grand jury empannelled returned "True Bills" one indictment for felonious cutting, one for unlawful cutting with intent to maim &c., two for assault and battery, one for perjury, two for carrying concealed weapons, one for disturbing religious worship, eight for selling intoxicating liquors in prohibited districts, one for selling intoxicating bitters on Sunday in Pungoteague district and one for grand larceny; and "Not True Bills," on for assault and battery , and one for entering dwelling house with intent to commit larceny.

William Core was recognized to answer on first day of next term an indictment for unlawful cutting with intent to maim &c.

The insolvent and delinquent lists of county treasurer and his deputy for the year 1886 were examined and certified.

Albert F. Mears, judgment creditor of Artemus E. Poulson vs. Martin E. Chesser et als (on a suggestion) continued till December term next first day.

Order entered directing jailor to discharge William Phillips as soon as his term of thirty days expires, he not being able to pay fine and cost.

Benjamin T. Gunter, Jr., qualified as deputy for W. Frederick Gunter, county surveyor.

Petition of Levin W. Nock and others for public road. Opinion of court entered in favor of road and the probable necessary expenditure of $400 certified to Board of Supervisors.

Petition of H. P. Mason and others for repairs in public road at Leemont, Report of D. H. Johnson, commissioner, filed and cause removed from docket.

Lydia Jeannette Dix vs. Nona L. Dix and others, (on petition.) Report of master commissioner recommitted.

The Commonwealth vs. Arthur H. Drummond (on indictment for selling intoxicating liquor). Third trial and jury failed to agree and nolle prosequi was entered.

Same vs. Duffield Savage, (on same.) Nolle prosequi entered.

Same vs. James S. Nock, (on same.) Four indictments -- continued on defendant's motion.

Report of commissioners assessing damages for clerk's office site confirmed and order for payment of sum allowed to land owner.

The N.Y., P. & N. R. R. Co., appellant vs. Bowdoin R. Mears, Appellant -- judgment for appellee.

Same vs. George Custis. Continued till 3rd day of next term.

Bar room license of Edward T. Burton, at Shilo Valley, in Pungoteague district transferred to Jesse R. Dunton.

Order to widen public road leading to Trader's Branch from Pungoteague.
