ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, August Term, 1894.

Wm. M. Taylor, J.P., paid into court $5 fine received of Maggie Nock, colored, convicted before him of petit larceny.

Emory Maffitt, J.P., paid into court $8 fines imposed by him on and received of Frank Talbot for drunkenness and swearing.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded: Orphan accounts of Nora Wise, colored, Carroll C. Kellam, Susan, Isabella, Elizabeth, Margaret A. and Daniel Jones, Bessie L., Blanche M., Stella V. and Alice M. Bull, John W., Bessie S. and Claude W. Kelly, Charlotte F., William H. and Annie L. Harmon, George Douglas, Isabella, Harriet Wise and Mary Wilkins; T. S. Taylor and wife's trust account; audits of estates of John S. Bell and John W. Belote.

Jos. R. Riggs qualified as administrator c.t.a. of Samuel Young of R., deceased.

L. Floyd Nock qualified as guardian of Amelia S., Elsie N., Annie R., and Edna B. Lewis, orphan of David W. Lewis, deceased.

The estate of Bertie B. Ensor was committed to John H. Wise, sheriff, for administration.

Henry F. Powell resigned as administrator d.b.n.c.t.a. of Thomas R. Gray, deceased, and Thomas F. Gray qualified as such administrator in place of said Powell.

An account of Alma J. Reed against Commonwealth for $119, for guarding schooners C. W. Stevenson and William E. Price, now sunk in Pungoteague Creek, was examined and allowed by the court.

Ex parte: The petitions (5) of Jas. H. Parramore's executrix (Elizabeth A. Parramore). Petitions filed and orders (5) entered authorizing said executrix to sell and transfer city and bank stock now standing in the name of said James H. Parramore.

Order on county treasurer in favor of Jos. R. Riggs, for $1.17, for nails furnished surveyor of road to repair bridge.

Order entered, authorizing Jno. W. Bowdoin, road surveyor of Bloxom election district, to rebuild public bridge near residence of Capt. Wm. Somers.

The list of the grand jurors selected for the ensuing year was handed to the clerk by the judge.

Order entered, authorizing Commissioner of Revenue, district No. 2, to grant Wm. M. Taylor a license to distribute and sell religious books, pamphlets or periodicals.

Commonwealth vs. Samuel S. Watkinson (on indictment for felonious extortion). Defendant was tried, found guilty and his punishment fixed by jury at 5 minutes in jail and to pay a fine of $20. On motion of the defendant the verdict was set aside by the court on the ground that it was contrary to the law and the evidence, whereupon, with the permission of the court, the Attorney for the Commonwealth entered a nolle prosequi and defendant was discharged.

George Wessels, Margaret Custis, Robert L. Wharton and S. Nelson, persons confined in jail detained for fine and costs assessed upon them were discharged, not being able to pay same.

Commonwealth vs. John Jenkins and Mary Susan Jenkins (on writs of scire facias awarded on two forfeited recognizances). Executions awarded against the defendant in each case for $50 each and cost.

Upon application of Edward T. Lang, road surveyor for election district of Temperanceville, viewers were appointed to report whether or not encroachments have been made in certain parts of the roads in said district.

S. J. Revel, late surveyor of road precinct No. 12, Atlantic district, made report that he had not executed the order entered on the 27th of March, 1894, and purchased the shells as therein directed, which report was duly filed.
