ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings of September Term, 1884:

John Brittingham, qualified as administrator of James H. Gunter, deceased.

Burwell B. Ewell, qualified as administrator of Charles Parkes, deceased.

The following fiduciary accounts were ordered recorded, to wit: Orphan accounts of Geo. A. L., John W., Thomas H., Clara F., and Manly F. Window, Edward H. Conquest, Jr., guardian; audits of estates of John J. Lewis, John Savage, Sr., Nancy Fox, A. W. Ashby and James Drummond, Sr.

Last will of Elizabeth A. Parker, deceased, proved and ordered recorded. The executors appointed relinquished their right to qualify, and J. M. Fosque qualified as administrator with the will annexed.

Last will of John Russell was proved and ordered recorded.

Last will of William P. Thornton was partly proved.

Last will of Elizabeth Harris was proved and ordered to be recorded.

Lloyd Brittingham was appointed and qualified as guardian of Betty Tindal, orphan of Washington Tindal, deceased.

Henry H. Saulsbury was appointed and qualified as guardian of his children Sarah E., Virginia E., Mary H., Margaret T., and John C.

Authority to celebrate the rites of matrimony was granted Revs. James D. Reese and Charles A. Horsey.

Orders on county treasurer in road and bridge matters, &c., were entered as follows: J. T. Ackley, $22.69; W. S. Miles, $15.35; James H. Mason, $4.00; Wm. P. Copes, $2.00; Edward A. Beloate, $2.00; D. H. Dennis, $28.75; White & Fletcher, $0.60; H. A. W. Corbin, $3.00; John Trader, $2.50; Benjamin Fletcher, $1.50; William P. Bell, $6.03.

Order entered authorizing Lloyd W. Mears, to purchase material and repair public bridge near residence of Mrs. Revel Twiford's.

Accounts against the Commonwealth in favor of John H. Wise, sheriff, John D. Parsons, J. P., and Jos. W. Mears, J. P., in criminal matters , were duly certified to auditor.

Samuel T. Ross, commissioner of accounts, made report as to sufficiency, &c., of official bond of county treasurer.

George T. Gladding, constable, paid into court $10 fine collected of James Williams for assault and battery on Jas. Church.

Order entered substituting Augustus D. Ewell, trustee in deed from Charles Parkes, now deceased, to A. J. Taylor, trustee for Burwell B. Ewell.

Ex Parte: Petition of John A. Bundick's administrator; order entered directing payment of costs, and payment of Grace Lee Bundick of her share of funds on deposit in Marine bank.

Order transferring bar room and also retail liquor license from Edward S. Hall, at Nelsonia, to his assignee S. F. Smith.

Bar room liquor license was granted to James L. and Edward B. Justice, at Metompkin station, and to E. S. Johnson at Tasley.

The Commonwealth vs. Ezekiel Bloxom, and same vs. John Fisher; causes continued on motion of defendants, respectively, and they bailed to appear and answer on the 1st day of next term.

The Commonwealth vs. Albert Gillespie, on rule for not attending as juror, judgment for $2.50 fine and Commonwealth's costs.

The Commonwealth vs. William T. Lewis, rule for not attending as grand juror, defendant appeared and showing sufficient reasons for his absence, was excused and rule discharged.

Ezekiel Bloxom vs. John M. Bloxom defendant failing to appear as witness for plaintiff, a summons was awarded against him to show cause why he should not be attached.

Wm. B. Pettit vs. John Keller, action of debt before J. P., agreed and dismissed.

Order entered exempting Isaac Sample, Sr., from capitation tax because of feeble physical condition.

W. H. Coard, agent, vs. Julius West et al, on attachment for rent, judgment for plaintiff and order of sale.

Upon partition of John R. Bowdoin and others, for public road, order entered approving damages allowed Benjamin F. Young and directing him to pay W. L. Nock et als commissioners, their per diem; and appointing new commissioners to report upon the public or private convenience of road.

Lloyd Brittingham was permitted to resign as judge of election at New Church and Thomas H. Evans appointed to fill the vacancy.

The lists of insolvents and delinquent State taxes for 1883 returned by the treasurer and his deputy were examined, corrected and certified to auditor.

Estate of Emeline Andrews and Hester Allen were committed to the sheriff for administration.

Petition of Elijah Mears' commissioner, John H. Wise, sheriff, referred to commissioner to report as to necessary repairs on buildings.

Order entered directing Wm. H. B. Custis, clerk and receiver to pay the railroad damages allowed Sarah A. Budd et als.

The Commonwealth vs. Spencer Crippin, indictment for attempt to carnally known an infant under 12 years of age, case heard and jury failing to agree, case was continued till next term for trial.
