ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, December Term, 1897.

Fiduciary accounts confirmed as follows: Orphan accounts of Carroll C. Kellam, Mabel W., Mitchell W. and Winnie Lee West, Thos H. Winder and James Fox; audits of estates of William T. Thornton Sr., Isaac T. Wright, Robert S. Drummond, George Turlington, colored, William R. Mapp, Rachel Phillips, Christopher C. Mears and Thomas R. Kellam; trust accounts of Elmer E. Thompson, William Drummond, colored, and wife, and James R. Lewis.

Accounts against Commonwealth in criminal and lunacy cases were allowed as follows: John H. Ayres, M.D., $6 and $2.50; Blackstone & Bell, 85 cents; John H. Wise, sheriff $21.40; jailer, board of prisoners $61.45, board of lunatics $10.25.

John W. Kellam resigned as guardian of Carroll C. Kellam, orphan of John R. Kellam, deceased.

L. Floyd Nock qualified as guardian of Carroll C. Kellam and Geo. F. Parker as guardian of Susan F. and Mary E. Parker, orphans of Benjamin T. Parker, deceased; Louis J. Harmanson who was appointed by will of said Parker as guardian of said infants having relinquished his right to qualify.

Last will of Charles P. Finney was proved and John T. Finney, William T. Rogers, Spencer F. Rogers and Samuel T. Waples qualified as executors.

Last will of Elizabeth A. Fletcher was proved and James H. Fletcher Jr. qualified as administrator c.t.a.

Last will of John E. Mears was proved.

Last will of Benjamin T. Parker was proved, Louis J. Harmanson, the executor named, relinquished his right to qualify and James H. Fletcher Jr. qualified as administrator c.t.a.

Charles C. Dix qualified as administrator of Jane Shreaves, deceased, and William C. West as administrator of John E. Parker, deceased.

Spencer F. Rogers was appointed and qualified as inspector of oysters for district No. 7 to fill out the unexpired term of Charles P. Finney,deceased.

Upshur Q. Sturgis qualified as Attorney at Law to practice before this court.

Thomas G. Elliott resigned as Justice of Peace.

Webb & Suttle vs. Parker Handy (on appeal). Verdict and judgment for Handy.

William Walsh vs. Walter E. Morris and wife (on attachment). Attachment returned levied, defendants appeared by attorneys, and cause continued by consent until first day of next term.

Jacob Finney, colored and John Cropper, colored, tried respectively for forgery and stealing a cow were convicted and sentenced to the penitentiary, Finney for 2 years and Cropper for 1 year.

James F. Hope vs. Peter T. H. Ayres (on motion for relief as surety). Defendant Ayres ordered to give a new bond as guardian of the orphans of Eburn T. Byrd, deceased or otherwise to be removed from office.

Isaac N. Hearn vs. Sewall H. Richardson (on attachment). Judgment for plaintiff and order of sale by sheriff of the pine cord wood levied on -- about 515 cords.

Order for D. Frank White, road surveyor, to repair Masonville public bridge.

Isabella Wilkins &c's guardian vs. Isabella Wilkins &c., (on petition). Order for expenditure by guardian for his wards, Isabella, Harriet W. and Mary E. Wilkins and for payment of costs of petition.

Robert S. Scarburgh &c's guardian vs. Robert S. Scarburgh (on petition). Petition filed and referred to commissioner of accounts.

Petition of J. O. Mears and others for a public road. Order appointing Jas. A. Winder, commissioner, to open and build the road, that runs from Pungoteague to Keller.

Wm. D. Sharpley qualified as deputy for John F. Powell inspector of oysters for district No. 1.

The insolvent and delinquent lists for year 1896, returned by E. T. Powell, treasurer and his deputy, John H. Hopkins, were examined, approved and certified to the auditor of public accounts. The State insolvents for capitation and property taxes for said year amount to $859.13 in district No. 1 and $850.51 in district No. 2 -- the delinquent land in district No. 1 to $9.37 and improperly assessed land list in district No. 1 to $23.39. No delinquent land or improperly assessed land lists were returned in district No.2.
