ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

October term, 1884, proceedings.

Receipt from C. T. Taylor to Levin Nock, proved and ordered recorded.

Alfred J. Lilliston qualified as administrator of George Bundick, deceased.

Thomas D. Scott was appointed and qualified as guardian of his child Chas. Thos. Scott.

The following fiduciary accounts were recorded, to wit: Audits of the estates of James B. Thomas, Susan R. Clayton, William Harman, Thomas Lilliston, John R. Drummond and Thomas Smith; orphan accounts of Maggie and Ruth M. Keaton, and trust account of Henry L. Crockett, trustee, with Henry Thomas' trust funds.

Upshur Bradford was appointed and qualified as guardian of Bessie and Geo. Fentress.

Albert Wagner, Charles Dambreck and William Dutchwhite, natives of Germany, made their declarations of intention to become citizens of the United states.

A regular grand jury empanneled returned indictments "true bills" against the following persons, to wit: William Edwards for grand larceny, James Ewell for maiming, Robert Pennewell (two indictments) for selling sewing machines unlawfully, Benjamin T. Parker for permitting unlawful gaming at his house of entertainment, Edward D. Winder for wilful trespass, John Hopkins for petit larceny, Parker Bowden for taking and carrying away planted oysters, James Collins, Horace Harman, John Benson and Eli Hope for hauling a seine, Corintha Gunter for disturbing religious worship, Solomon Gunter for carrying concealed weapon, and the following indictments "not true bill" against Edward Winder for carrying a concealed weapon, John Floyd and William Lewis for selling ardent spirits unlawfully, George Walker for assault and battery, Edward Savage for willfully disturbing religious worship, John Cutler for assault and battery, William Thornton for carrying concealed weapon.

Petition of George Stockley and others for public road, petition filed and order appointing viewers, Thomas W. Blackstone and others.

Petition of Benj. Mears and others, for public road, petition filed and order appointing viewers, Thomas Blackstone and others.

Order on county treasurer in road and bridge matters, etc., were entered as follows, to wit: For James Thornton $6.75; Southey Mason, $12; Francis Stockley, $1; James Harrison, $7; Wm. Milliner, $4; Wm. Tunnell, $1; John W. Turlington, $4.25; Henry Mason, 12 cts; A. P. White, 8 cts; John Thornes, $2; Betsy Ayres, 63 cts; Samuel Justis of R., 45 cts; J. C. Wescott, $26.50; E. S. Kellam, $8.09; John W. Edmonds, $5; Thorogood Mason, Albert Gillespie, Stanley J. Lewis and N. W. Nock, $1 each.

Surveyors of the public roads were appointed as follows: John Taylor vice James Thornton, Thomas Barnes vice Southey Mason, Thorogood Fisher vice John Ackley, John Johnson vice Francis Stockley, John Beloate vice Edward T. Ames, deceased.

Order entered for repairs to Rew's bridge and two bridges in John Davis' precinct.

Edward T. Edmonds vs. Alfred J. Mears and other, attachment for rent, dismissed on plaintiff's motion.

The Commonwealth vs. Ezekiel Bloxom, indictment, continued on motion of Commonwealth.

Same vs. Spencer Crippen, indictment, Nolle prosequi entered.

Same vs. John T. Fisher, indictment for maliciously obstructing N. Y. , Phil. and Norfolk R. R. Co., defendant arraigned, tried and acquitted.

Zorobabel Mason, guardian of his child David Mason, gave a new bond in larger penalty.

Last will of Catharine Powell, Sr., deceased, proved and Abel T. Johnson qualified as administrator with will annexed.

L. Floyd Nock qualified as notary public for the county of Accomac.

Petition of James Broughton and other for public road, petition filed and order appointing viewers Wm. Green and others.

L. Floyd Nock qualified as administrator of Isham Floyd, deceased.

L. Floyd Nock qualified as guardian of Ella, Annie, Lee and Margaret Wessells, orphans of David B. Wessells, deceased.

Accounts of Wesley Melson, constable, and Fred Waddy in criminal cases, allowed and certified to auditor of public accounts.

Thorogood B. Mason was appointed judge of election at Muddy Creek in place of John T. Scott, deceased.

Order entered committing Henry P. Parker's estate unadministered with his will annexed to John H. Wise, sheriff, for administration.

Petition of William Gibb and others for public road, order entered for John Brittingham and others viewers to make further report.

Petition of John Bowdoin and others for public road in Cattail Neck, order to open and establish road, allowing damages and directing payment of costs.

Bar room and also retail liquor license granted John S. Gaskins at Holden's creek.

Order to summon Robert Stant to show cause for failing to appear as a witness before grand jury.

Scire Facias awarded against John Hopkins, and Elvy Jeffreys his surety, on forfeited recognizance.
