ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, November Term, 1889.

Last wills of George T. Garrison and Gilbert Bell were proved and ordered to be recorded.

R. T. Harman, J.P., paid into court $2.50, fine received of Benj. Matthews, colored.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered to be recorded: audits of estates of Hannibal Fletcher, Ira B. Allen, Solomon Copes, Hettie Nedab and Robert Watson; trust account of James B. White and wife and others and Thos. G. Elliot; orphan accounts of Alberta, Henry L., Ida E., and Isaac J. Hudson and Sallie Small.

Edwin T. Powell qualified as administrator of Joshua T. Spence, deceased, Benj. T. Gunter qualified as administrator d.b.n. c.t.a. of George Bradford, deceased. Augustus T. Doughty qualified as guardian of Marietta and Claudius McLane, orphan of John McLane, deceased.

The estates of Wm. Evans, Thomas J. Holland and W. W. Pool were committed to John H. Wise, sheriff for administration.

Edwin T. Powell qualified as notary public for county of Accomac.

James W. Broughton qualified as assessor of lands for district No. 1 of Accomac and Wm. L. Nock qualified as assistant assessor of said district. Edward S. Wise qualified as assessor of lands for district No. 2 of Accomac.

Retail liquor license was granted to Wm. S. Waterman at his house at Bloxom station.

C. Smith, Jesse Shields in place of John Hartman, Geo. W. Garrett in place of Samuel T. Ross and Wm. E. Northam in place of L. J. Tull.

Henry P. Mason, agent, versus Jas. T. Shreves (attachment.) Judgment for plaintiff and order for sale.

Powell & Waples versus Wm. H. West (attachment). Judgment for plaintiff and order for sale except certain articles exempted by poor law.

Commonwealth versus John Parker, (indictment for rape). Defendant tried, convicted of an attempt to commit the offense and sentenced to three years and six months in the penitentiary.

Charles P. Finney, inspector of oysters for 8th district, made a report for three months ending November 30th, 1889, collected $296.85, due State $267.17.

John McLane's administrator versus John McLane and others (on petition). Order for withdrawal from bank amount on deposit therein, payment of costs, attorney's fee, and balance to guardian of Claude and Marietta McLane.

Petition of S. W. Parkes and others for public road. Report of commissioner filed, order confirming report, for payment of damages for land taken and contractors' and petitioners' costs.

Petition of George M. Parkes and others for public road. Same entry as in petition of S. W. Parkes and others.

Commonwealth versus James H. Bennett. (Indictment for selling liquor at Evergreen M. E. Church, South). Defendant tried, convicted and fined $10 and costs of prosecution.

Ex parte; N. Judson Kellam's administrator. Order authorizing checks on Marine Bank by J. W. G. Blackstone, and for payment of amount to Mrs. Cordelia S. Kellam for board &c. of her four infant children.

Petition of Major E. Selby and others for repairs to public causeway at Swansea Gut. Report of Solomon T. Johnson, commissioner, filed. Order confirming report, directing payment for amount expended and per diem of commissioner.

Commonwealth versus James H. Bennett, (indictment for selling liquor without license in Pungoteague), convicted and fined $10 and cost of prosecution.

Commonwealth versus George Wise, (Indictment for carrying pistol concealed). Nolle Prosequi entered.

Petition filed by Wm. R. Lewis against Commonwealth for purpose of proving genuineness of certain coupons tendered for taxes.

Commonwealth versus Wm. D. Lewis (indictment for keeping a disorderly house). Defendant tried, convicted and fined $5 and cost of prosecution.

Commonwealth versus J. Lee Justice (indictment for permitting unlawful gaming at his house of entertainment). Defendant tried and acquitted.

Commonwealth versus Samuel C. Mason (indictment for carrying a pistol concealed.) Defendant tried and convicted and fined $35 and cost of prosecution.

James T. Hurst resigned as guardian of Sadie Small, orphan of John C. Small.

Petition of John A. Bundick's administrators. Order entered for withdrawal from bank of share of Jno. A. Bundick, for payment of costs and taxes.

Accounts against the Commonwealth were allowed to Dr. F. Drummond, $2.50 for examining a lunatic and to Duffy Savage, $24 for board of jury to try John Parker.

Commonwealth versus Margaret Thorns (indictment for selling liquor without license). Defendant tried, convicted and fined $100 and cost of prosecution.

Commonwealth versus Amanda Thorns (indictment for selling liquor without license). Defendant tried and acquitted.

Commonwealth versus Wm. D. Lewis (indictment for permitting unlawful gaming at his house of entertainment). Nolle prosequi entered.

Commonwealth versus Peter Boggs (indictment for selling articles of traffic within three miles of camp meeting near Morris Chapel). Defendant tried convicted and fined $20 and cost of prosecution.
