ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings at January Term, 1884.

Receipts from Geo. P. Barnes to Wm. H. Matthews of S. and Frederick J. Hancock to Aser Shield; proved and ordered recorded.

Last will of Edward J. Young was proved and ordered recorded, and Geo. T. Garrison qualified as executor.

The following fiduciary accounts were confirmed and ordered recorded, to-wit: Orphan accounts of Milcah Ann and Fred Davis, and Matilda S. Upshur; audits of the estates, respectively, of Peter Crockett, Wm. Smith Harrison, Louisa M. Fitzgerald, Leroy G. East, James P. Fisher, Revel T. Twyford, and Peter Evans, Sr.

Last will of John Salisbury was proved and ordered recorded, and Edward B. Waples qualified as executor.

Last will of Richard Walter was proved and ordered recorded.

Perry A. Leatherbury qualified as administrator of Mary Poolman, (colored) deceased.

Wm. A. Burton qualified as administrator of John T. Ward, deceased.

Benjamin T. Gunter qualified as administrator of Ella S. Groton, deceased.

George W. Mason qualified as administrator of Hannah Bivens, (colored) deceased.

Benjamin T. Gunter qualified as guardian of Lafayette and Maggie M. Groton, orphans of James P. Groton, deceased.

Retail license granted Wm. F. Joynes and George W. Berry, at Horntown.

Bar room license granted John L. Trower & Bro., at Head of Bradford's Neck.

Bar room license at Assawoman transferred from Purnell H. Chesser to Flavins J. Bullman.

Bar room and retail liquor license at Modestown transferred from Wm. L. Phillips and Revel C. Taylor to John W. Colonna.

Orders on County Treasurer in road matters were entered, as follows: For Hez. W. Fox, $4; James H. Hutchinson, $2; John Somers, $14.30; James E. F. Ayres, $5.10; Wm. T. Parkes, $2; John L. Gillespie, $2; and Geo. T. Moore, $2.

Wm. L. Nock, constable, paid into Court the following fines: $2.50 received of John Drummond, for assault on Jas. Stant, and $1 from Major H. Stant for wilful trespass.

Information against Joseph T. and John T. Hill, for having terrapins in their possession in the prohibited months, and summons to answer at next term awarded.

The Commonwealth vs. Robert and Henry Hurley, on indictment for felony in rescuing prisoners from custody of Constable Nock; judgment of outlawry entered against defendants, and capias utlagatum awarded.

Same vs. Henry A. Thomas and Jas. Revel Lewis, on indictment for taking and catching oysters with dredgers; defendants appeared according to their respective recognizances, and causes were continued and new recognizances given.

Rule awarded against Elisha Crockett for failing to attend as a witness for Henry A. Thomas.

The Commonwealth vs. Wm. T. Bloxom, Sr., on indictment for feloniously shooting with intent to maim, &c., Meshack W. Gaskins; defendant was arraigned, tried and acquitted of the offence, but convicted of an attempt to commit it unlawfully, and fined $50 and costs, aggregating $93.87, which he paid into Court, and was discharged from custody.

The Commonwealth vs. Franklin C. Lewis, on indictment for willful trespass; continued on motion of defendant, and rule awarded against Andrew I. Lewis, for failing to attend as a witness for defendant.

Lambert Jester and J. T. Kenney vs. H. Lape; attachments returned and docketed.

Upon petition of John R. Bowdoin and others, for public road in Cattail Neck; petition filed and viewers appointed.

The Commonwealth vs. Wm. J. Lewis, on indictment alleging assault and battery; continued on defendant's motion.

John W. Jester vs. Thos. Handy, on attachment; report of special commissioner filed.

Accounts of Frederick Waddy, John J. Blackstone, treasurer, and John E. Wise, deputy treasurer, for board and pay of jurors in felony trials allowed and certified.

Upon petition of Elizabeth S. Fletcher and others, for public road and landing in Wallop's Neck; report of viewers filed.

The Commonwealth vs. Parker W. Parkes, on indictment for obstructing the public road; defendant was tried, convicted and fined one cent and costs -- $46.92

Same vs. Geo. W. Berry, on indictment for selling liquor unlawfully; defendant was tried, convicted and fined $100 and costs -- $128.72.

Same vs. George West, on indictment for disturbing religious worship; defendant was tried and acquitted.

Order directing clerk and receiver to pay to James Al. Hall his railroad damages allowed.

Rule awarded against Wm. Reed, of Fanny, and James Crippen for failing to attend as witnesses for Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth vs. Wm. H. Miles, on indictment for unlawfully staking in, &c., a natural oyster bed; continued till next term, on motion of attorney for the Commonwealth.

Ex Parte: Edward Melson's administrator, John D. Grant; petition filed, order to pay costs, attorney's fee, and to deposit residue in hand belonging to infant distributees in Marine Bank on interest account.

Upon petition of George W. Glenn and others, for public road on Saxe's Island; order establishing and opening road as reported by viewers and allowing the damages named in report.
