ACCOMAC COUNTY COURT.

Proceedings, June Term, 1882 -- Judge Thos. C. Parramore, Presiding

Emma Silverthorn was appointed and qualified as the guardian of John W., Sidney O. and Samuel O. Silverthorn, orphans of John C. Silverthorn, dec'd; Isaac K. Stevenson, of his son John T. Stevenson; Margaret H. Mears, of Arthur R. Mears, gave a new bond as such guardian.

An account of Dr. Geo. T. Scarburgh, for medical attention to prisoners in jail, was examined and certified; same of Margaret L. Adair, for board, &c., of criminal juries, was examined and certified.

Wm. J. Gibb qualified as notary public for the county of Accomack.

James S. Bell vs. Ella Walter Mears' guardian, on petition for relief assurety; continued on plaintiff's motion.

John R. Kellam, J. P., paid into court one dollar, a fine imposed on Wm. Crowsen for using profane language in his presence.

Order entered directing Benjamin T. Gunter, ex'or, of Jas. P. Groton, dec'd, to distribute descendant's estate without a refunding bond from either distributee or legatee.

Bar room licenses were granted to Louis S. Belote, at Fair Oaks; George A. Fowler, at Hawk's Nest, and at Sycamore Turn; Louis F. Hinman, at Hunting Creek; and to Revel C. Taylor, at Guilford Wharf, to sell malt liquors only.

Orders on county treasurer for road services, &c., were entered for Copes & Hall, for $24.71; Major H. Stant, for $3; Sam Logan, for $2; Raymond Lewis, for $1; Henry C. Bunting, for $2; Thos. A. Northam, for $7.75; Wm. T. Bloxom, for $23; Elijah F. Bull, for $2; Jno. T. Bull, for $2; John T. Powell, for $3; and Wm. E. Mapp, for $4.

John T. Ackley was appointed surveyor of road; vice Joseph R. Riggs, resigned: Thos. Milliner of Maria, vice, Elijah F. Bull, resigned; and Alfred Taylor, vice Wm. T. Bloxom, resigned.

Order entered directing W. W. Ling to purchase material and rebuild bridge near Parson's store.

George Fisher Parramore qualified to practice law in this court.

Wm. L. Nock was appointed and qualified as an inspector of oysters in Accomack county, for areas between straight lines drawn from Chincoteague Inlet, on the north, and Assawoman Inlet, on the south, to the main land.

Commonwealth vs. Parker Marshall, on indictment for maiming; defendant tried and convicted of an assault, fined $50 -- and costs amounting to $45.80.

Same vs., Mary Byrd, on indictment for arson; defendant tried and convicted, and sentenced to the penitentiary for three years.

Ex parte petition of Wm. L. Watson's Committee; order referring cause to Master Commissioner M. Oldham, Sr.

The Committee to inspect the jail made their quarterly report; and for their services were allowed: Dr. Geo. T. Scarburgh, $2; Wm. H. Parker, Jr., $1; and Wm. J. Ayers, $1.

Order entered directing Luke C. Lewis, surveyor of public roads in the district of The Islands, to purchase certain amount of lumber and shells for his roads.

Order entered substituting John W. Edmonds as trustee in deed from Isaiah Johnson to John R. Drummond, trustee for Wm. R. Lewis.
